Buried or Planted?
by Dennis Buckley
Buried or Planted? The donkey had somehow managed to fall in the well and the farmer called all his neighbors to help him, but they could not get the animal out. The donkey was not making any more noise so the farmer thought the animal had died. He decided to bury the animal in the well so he and neighbors started shoveling dirt into the well. The dirt hit the donkey and woke him up and he shook off the dirt. The dirt kept accumulating around his feet and as the well filled up the ground upon which the donkey was standing rose also. After many hours of shoveling dirt into the well, and the donkey shaking it off onto the floor, much to the farmers surprise he saw the donkeys ears rise about the top of the well and the donkey stepped out of the well.
With the proposed "health care reform" bill recently passed. Many people are apprehensive as to how it will look and played out. Some feel that this will bury us in debt and that services will actually be limited and access to doctors may be difficult.
The one thing you have to remember is that being healthy is a personal responsibility. 70 percent of the problems people go to doctors for are preventable through lifestyle. So will you be "buried" by poor health or will you take this opportunity to be "planted" like a seed and grow and blossom as a healthy, responsible person, through a healthy lifestyle? In trying to be healthy you will have challenges and you may become injured or sick and then life will dump on you. Shake it off and use that injury or illness as a foothold to rise higher and higher until you rise to the top and are free and successful. Many a current success in health, fell many times, got dumped on, but they kept shaking off the "dirt", changed their lifestyle and kept their eyes on the targets and goals and emerged successful. The donkey was going to be buried but like a seed that was planted rose from the dirt and blossomed. The question is, "Are you buried or planted?" Buried dies, planted grows, the choice is yours.
