The Four Essentials of Life
By Dennis R. Buckley, DC
To survive and stay alive requires 4 essential ingredients. They are:
* Food * Water * Oxygen * Nerve Impulses
Without food to replenish the body with essential nutrients to feed the cells, you end up with starvation.
Without water to provide a medium in which the body can function, where chemical processes can take place and the ability to cool and regulate temperature, you end up with dehydration.
Without Oxygen to provide fuel for the cells to create energy so there is repair and protection, you would end up with suffocation.
Without nerve impulses from the brain to the body and the body to the brain or even a diminishing of the quality and quantity of information being transmitted to control and coordinate all these processes, you end up with subluxation.
Starvation, dehydration, suffocation and subluxation are not conducive to supporting life.
It is also true that the quality of the food, the liquids, the air and the amount of nerve impulses can affect the quality and quantity of life.
Many of the things WE have control over affect these areas. The quantity and quality of the food we eat, the type of and amount of liquids we consume, the environment and quality of air we breath or how polluted it is or how WE pollute it (smoking), the exercise we get or do not get and the posture we present all can affect body communication through nerve impulses.
Chiropractic care and most holistic health care is the care of causes not effects. If you are eating but starving, drinking but dehydrated, breathing but suffocating, living and moving but being limited by subluxation, look to the cause for the cure.
Doctors of chiropractic have been helping people over 100 years address the real cause of their problems. This is done by improving how people eat, their habits and correcting subluxation by restoring the proper function of the spine and its effect on nerve impulses.
When you identify and treat the cause(s), you express health which is what the body wants to do.
