OLYMPIC EXCELLENCE IN YOUR LIFE by Dennis R. Buckley, DC
The Olympics are now over and we witnessed some very impressive performances; Michael Phelps with his 8 gold medals and Usain Bolt with 3 world records for example. What we witnessed was the end result of some very talented people that maximized their potential by using discipline and passion to achieve their goals.
What we did not see were the hours of practice, training, and sacrifice they put in. There are many talented athletes who you will never hear about because they relied on talent alone and did not have the discipline sustained over time to maximize their potential.
They bridge between talent and passion to great achievement is discipline.
Those of you reading this who are successful in your family and business life know that it was not easy, it took work. It took discipline and a vision of what you wanted to accomplish and a commitment to see it through.
Each of you can be an Olympic champion in your own race to be healthy and maximize your potential. It will take work. It will take discipline. It will be tough at times but it is not impossible.
When it comes to health you must be willing to discipline yourself in these four areas; Nutrition, exercise, thoughts, and structural integrity.
You must monitor and control what foods and liquids you allow into your body. You must move your body with aerobic activities, resistance exercises, stretching and fun activities. You must also be disciplined in what you let enter your mind and using your free will to control your reactions to life. You must also have a balanced and aligned structure to get the most mileage and function from your body.
Paying attention to these four areas on a regular basis through discipline will allow you the best chance to have a gold medal performance in the game of life.
It's not easy, but also not impossible, and each of you has an Olympic champion inside to tap into. Don't settle for silver or bronze, go for the gold!
