Detoxification: Help or Hype? By Dennis R. Buckley, DC
The new buzz word is detox, short for detoxification. On TV, in magazines, on the web you can find all sorts of detoxification programs. In fact at our office we have a quite effective program but there is a caveat to all of these programs and that is this: The best detoxification program available to everyone is to quit putting toxins in your body.
Now you may think that this is a no brainer but I am constantly amazed at the people who tell me about the great detoxification program they went through but continue to smoke cigarettes, eat fried, fatty foods and drink excessive amounts of alcohol.
You see your body has a great detoxification system called your liver. It is the garbage disposal system of the body and one of its main jobs is to package toxins in a way that your body can eliminate it safely.
Many of the detoxification programs help the body in the elimination of toxins but if you really want to have an effective detoxification programs, stop putting toxins in your body.
Here is your free detoxification program. Eliminate smoking, eating fast, greasy food, eliminate processed foods, sugar, soda, artificial sugar substitutes and unhealthy snack foods. Minimize alcohol intake and red meat.
Do drink more water, lots of it. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat more fish and other lean meats such as chicken and turkey. Get plenty of exercise daily of at least 45 minutes. Make sure you get plenty of rest and breathe deeply of fresh air. This might necessitate a trip to the mountains or beach.
Do the good things and avoid the bad things and your detoxification program will be well on its way and be more successful. If your body needs extra help, then the detoxification programs out there may be more beneficial.
Start your detoxification program today by eliminating toxins.
